COMMON to Recognize Outstanding Speakers at Fall 2000 Conference

CHICAGO, June 14, 2000 – COMMON, the world's largest group of users involved with IBM and IBM-compatible information technology, will honor its Speaker Excellence Hall of Fame Medal Recipients at its Fall 2000 Conference and Solution Center, to be held Oct. 22-26 in Baltimore, Maryland.

COMMON established the Speaker Excellence Program to recognize presenters at its conferences whose sessions were exceptional in both content and delivery. The following speakers will be recognized in Baltimore for presentations given during

COMMON's Spring 2000 Conference:

"Speakers are one of COMMON's cornerstones. Without them, our organization could not deliver timely, insightful and useful information to conference attendees," said COMMON President Robert Cozzi, Jr., who is also a long-time COMMON speaker and Speaker Excellence silver medal recipient. "Through the Speaker Excellence Program, we are able to recognize some of the top speakers in the information technology industry for the exceptional quality of their presentations, which are essential to the success of COMMON conferences." Many of the speakers recognized will present their award-winning sessions at COMMON's Fall 2000 Conference in Baltimore. COMMON Speaker Excellence Hall of Fame Awards are based on evaluation forms turned in by attendees following each session. Ratings are based on the average of responses to questions regarding session content; the speaker's presentation skills; the speaker's ability to communicate their knowledge of the topic; use of training aids; and the overall rating for the session. There were 660 qualified sessions presented at the Spring 2000 Conference.

The top 1 percent is awarded a Gold Medal; the next 2 percent a Silver Medal; and the next 4 percent a Bronze Medal.
